I am very happy using this seat on my Raleigh with my one-year old. My son is comfortable in the seat. I found it very easy to install, and it feels solid on the bike. I did find that I needed to raise the stem to expose about two inches to get a good fit. The back of the seat is just slightly in the path of my knees, but it is smooth and narrow so that I can pedal easily with just a small adjustment of splaying my knees a little around the seat. I don't find this bothersome. I ride a smaller frame; a longer top-tube would eliminate the interference entirely. It is a joy to ride with my son and I'm very happy over all.

I tried the Ibert seat as well, and it worked much less well for me. It is larger and interfered with my knees quite a lot more. The mount on the stem slopes downward and extends a few inches back towards the seat, and therefore required more like 3 inches of stem to clear the top tube. It did not feel nearly as solid on the bike.

- Baby really likes it. We've gone on rides up to 45 min long, and he hasn't complained at all. I expect this would be different if he was staring at my bum (on a rear seat), or at my wheel (in a trailer).
- I thought the baby's weight would make me rather unstable, but that's not the case. It seems to be in a good neutral position.
- It's easy to install, and if you have an extra bracket, easy to move between mom and dad's bike.
- It's very easy to lean over and talk to him.
- If he's feeling a bit tired, he can lean on my arm.

Con:
- The biggest problem for me is stopping and starting. With the child seat in front of me, there is very little room for me to stand flat footed on the ground (in the space between my seat and his seat). I've learned to master the "tripod stop", where I keep my bum on my seat, and lean over slightly so that one foot can touch the ground. Starting (especially while on an incline) is more difficult. Because of the baby seat, I can't stand up in the pedals and lean forward. The one time I had to start on an incline, I backed the bike up to flat ground, so that I could get a good running start to go up the hill. Since I rarely encounter hills on my daily rides, this is still manageable.
- The shoulder straps easily slide down off his shoulders. I've now taken a extra clasp off a backpack I wasn't using, so that I can buckle the straps across his chest as well (similar to the chest clip on a car seat).
- The seat is super easy to remove, therefore easy to steal. This is easily solved if you buy a small padlock, and use that to secure the seat instead of the pin provided.
- The seat does not come above the baby's shoulders. Therefore it doesn't offer head and neck protection in a fall. This is of all front child seats. To me this is offset by the fact that the baby is cradled between my arms, and that since I can see him, I'm less likely to be caught unaware if he suddenly decides to fling himself somewhere.
- There's nothing for baby to hold on to. He started out holding my mirror (which rendered it useless to me). I then bought the chest rest accessory for this seat, and he is comfortable holding on to that. It also gives him something to lean on if tired.
- The bobike seat is made to be mounted on a quill stem. Alternatively there is an adapter that can be used for other bikes, but only if they have a top tube (i.e. must be a man's bike, not a ladies step-through bike). The step-through bike was essential for me, since I often wear a skirt while biking. I traded in my old hybrid bike, and bought an upright city bike with a quill stem. Certainly most people would not buy a new bike to go with their baby seat, but I was already in the market for a bike. Shopping for bike and seat at the same time meant I was able to get a combination that worked well together. Bikes that I tried that worked well with the bobike seat included the Gary Fisher Simple City and the Batavus Personal Bike. Most of the other bikes I tried did not have enough room between my seat and the handlebars to comfortably fit the bobike mini, and enable me to stand flat-footed on the ground when stopped. A number of the dutch companies make special "mama-bikes" that have a longer distance between seat and handlebars, so that the childs seat can easily fit in front. But living in North America, this would have required custom shipping, and appeared prohibitively expensive.

Seat is outstanding. CRITICAL to know: Many bikes actually don't have the proper seat stay (tail part of frame) to mount the child seat - here's what you must check on your bike before you buy - or be prepared to get creative - and don't expect help from Topeak or the bike shops because I'm sure they prefer not to hold any liability... The two bars which go from the rear axle of every bike up to the back of the seat post are called the seat stays. (See wikipedia for a diagram on bike parts).

The manual literally reads "The Topeak BabySeat is designed to work on frames with seatstay rack mounts AND threaded dropout eyelets only. Do not use the Topeak BabySeat on frames without these fittings for safety reasons."

Much to my shock, many bikes do not have screw mounting posts on each seat stay and Topeak doesn't point out that BSII requires a bike with these posts. The reason is that the black rack (which serves as the base of the baby seat) has two steal bars which extend from the front of the rack down to the top point of the seat stay and it serves to stabilize and hold stationary the rack and ultimately your baby. (Without them it would just pivot on the screws which connect at the axle) and the whole thing would flip back to the ground.

The problem is, the rods are pre-bent and have pre-drilled holes which are specifically engineered to connect to a dual connection seat stay. My wife's Schwinn Sierra only has the patented Schwinn single point seat stay - not compatible; nor did my Novara (REI) Mnt. Bike, or either of my parent's cruisers. Moreover, we went to the bike shop today and a ton of the bikes on the shelf don't have them. Topeak literally says the child seat will not work or mount on bikes without them (the guy at REI urgently reminded me of this when I asked him about clamping it over the phone..., so what's a desperate father to do? I found a creative, but VERY SAFE fix. I recommend you try to find a bike shop to advise if you really want this seat, but be fore-warned - it very well could not work at all with your bike. As a business person I am shocked the engineers at Topeak designed such an innovative product, but got away with designing it like that - they probably lost a huge portion of the addressable market by that single move. Still, it is a great - innovative seat!

Pricey but good, November 24, 2009
If it cost $40 less, I would rate it 5 stars. It was easy to install and adjust to the size of my three year old and one and one half year old. Both get "antsy" on trips in their car seats but love the Topeaks on extended bike excursions. I question the usefulness of the "suspension" as I'm unable to see any give when I put all my weight on it. I will recommend these to others but look hard to find a good price and be prepared to take some time getting used to handling your bike with a much different weight distribution.

It supported my 3 years old daughter who does not want to ride her bike for a long cruise around the village. Which worked for me, lost more weight having her as an added weight going around town. It was easy to install if you are mechanicaly inclined. Once the base is installed, the seat can be removed in less than 10seconds if you just want to ride around without your child. The back rest is high enough to protect your child's neck and covers the child's whole body, which is great in case of a fall unlike those that I have seen that are short exposing your kids neck and head.

This is the second brand bike seat I purchased. The first type was not large enough for my two year old, who is twenty three pound and average height, even though the description listed up to 40lbs. This seat allows you to adjust the straps, just like your car seat, when your child gets taller. The lap bar is also high enough to not constrict their movement too much. You can also strap they're feet in if you have a little kicker behind you. Recommend

The instructions for this suggest one can simply slide the seat onto the rack. That's not the case, however. After a maddening hour or so, I used a flat-head screw driver to leverage the seat on the front of the rack. Looks like a design or manufacturing flaw prevents one from sliding it on. I haven't used it yet, but I came within minutes of packing it back up and returning it. Let's hope its flaws do not extend to how safe it is.

This seat may be safe for kids but it is not safe for adults.

Trying to remove the seat from the rack nearly put my wife and I in the hospital.
First her fingers got jammed between the rack and seat as I was pulling. Many tears and fearful of a broken finger.
After re reading the instructions (there is a caution) and using as much precaution as humanly posable my finger got stuck as well.

This is a dangerous design flaw that leaves me wondering how a product like this clears safety codes.
It really takes 2 people to remove the seat plus some sort of tool that they don't provide to keep your fingers from getting mauled.

Another problem is that you have to wrestle with this bit of velcro to remove the foot harnesses. It's very frustrating. I have to walk around the bike looking for enough room to pull the straps apart.

From design to materials all the way to the flimsy manual this bike seat just feels cheap. And it's not $$ THAT $$ cheap!!

Bell is asking for a law suit on this seat. The hardware (nuts, bolts, and washers) is so cheap and thin that I wouldn't even trust it. You can definately tell the hardware is made in some cheap foreign country. If you plan on keeping this seat, I highly recommend going to your local hardware store and buying good quality LOCKING NUTS, bolts, washers, and lock washers. I recommend if anyone is hurt to sue away and maybe Bell will start to focus on quality and not quantity. I definately don't trust this seat for my son. This product has been returned. Bell was so cheap on this seat that they didn't even include locking nuts. What do they think is going to happen when people ride their bikes down the road? The nuts are going to come loose. The cheap lock washers are not going to hold the nuts on. Read all of the reviews about the nuts coming loose. What are they thinking? I bought a schwinn carrier and love it. I can tell schwinn actually cares about the safety of small children who are going to ride in their seats. I definately don't recommend Bell.

I just installed this seat today. I started at 3.45 pm and finsihed at 7pm. It all went well until I started attaching the rack to the bike. Unlessyour bike frame is made of really thin metal poles do not buy this seat. It will have you screaming and swearing by the time you get to the second set of screws you need to attach to your bike. The plastic pads which are supposed to protect the paint kept falling off and and the screws are just long enough so it becomes a really fidly job. The instructions are complete rubbish and half the time you have to figure out what to do yourself. So annoying. But my baby was so excited about having his own seat on the bike,I could not, not install the seat. I got this seat for six dollars brand new. If I had paid more I would have definately returned it. I guess you get what you pay for. If you can afford to pay a hundred dollars more and get someone at the store to install it for you please do.

Once installed your fingers will probably be bleeding, but it is seems to be pretty sturdy and when we tested it my son did not want to get out so I guess its comfy enough.

Again to avoid swearing in front of your kids get a seat which is easy to install. This one is a nightmare.

This carrier came within 2 days of ordering! The instructions were decent, but with common sense you can get it together in less than 20 min. The bike I bought was not compatible with this seat, a schwinn women's comfort bike. This carrier will only work with moutain bikes. I exchanged the Schwinn for a Lakota and still had to adjust the positioning of the pieces that connect to the tire frame area. But with a little resourcefulness it worked out. My daughter is 19.4lbs (14 1/2 months old) and even after not riding a bike for over 10 years, the bike was easy to handle with her on. She loves it! She used the handlebar in front the entire time. It is very lightweight and flexible (at first was apprehensive)BUT VERY STURDY! The seat is padded nicely and the straps are more secure than I thought they'd be. Get refelctive tape though, when dark the bike and carrier are not easily seen.

The seat is fine. It's safe, durable, comfortable, etc. The instructions included with the seat are poorly written. This is an imported chair and what the distributor needs to do is take the poorly translated instructions and make a proper installation instruction manual. We have Trek bikes. I had to go to our factory and fabricate mounting for this seat. Shouldn't be necessary as they said it would fit.

Today, after clipping a bush on a bumpy sidewalk, I lost balance and my bike fell on it's side with me on it and my 13 mos old in the Co-Pilot. I struggled to gain balance, but couldn't and took the brunt of the fall on my knee and my poor twisted back. After a panic, I jumped up and quickly assessed my toddlers condition. There she sat snuggly in the Co-Pilot, with her pink bunny Giro Infant Helmet (which I also highly recommend) without a clue that anything was wrong. The seat's lap bar and harness held her in place and not a single inch of her came near the pavement. Thank God! She just looked at me like I was crazy. LOL!

So despite a funky installation manual and some tweaking to accommodate the bike I had, this product is worth every penny. Its' comfy, quality, safety and ease of use are worth 5 stars. I hope no one else has to learn that the way I did though! Ha.

this is a great buy!
there is a lot of protection for the child's head and sides incase of a fall.
the front bar is great to have, although it's not secure so the child (if old enough) will have no problem pulling it up.
the pads on the sides aren't very secure either and although they stay in place because of their stiffness, my daughter likes to pull them off from the sides.
it does recline and this is nice because if it didn't i doubt i would like it. we keep it in the reclined position always.
it is very easy to install onto the bike rack and also easy to take off. it is also very secure!
it is very light weight and can easily be carried with one hand.
the seat belt is not as secure as i would like. probably because of it's small width. there are 3(?) adjustment holes for it. when we got it our daughter was about 1, and if i remember correctly, we had to put the adjustment to the highest level. our daughter is a tall girl, but not that tall.
it is much sturdier than the cheaper child's bike seats you can buy at like walmart and like i said, much more protection around the head and sides! for your childs safety, this is worth the price.

this is a great buy. our daughter is 2 and she still fits very easily in it. we'll be using this for all of our kids, as long as it holds up, which i'm sure it will :)

The Blackburn rack that comes with this seat doesn't fit all bikes. Neither of our commuter bikes worked with the rack. I called CoPilot and their customer service person was extremely rude and unhelpful. Our local bike shop said that people often have to buy longer length stays to get the rack to fit. While it is understandable that it would be difficult to make a one-size-fits-all rack, it would have been nice to know the models of bikes with which this rack would fit.

I hope to be able to provide a more positive review and info about a workaround when we get this sorted out.

I bought the CoPilot Limo after spending hours and days researching both front mounted and rear mounted bike seats. Once it arrived I was so excited for my husband and I to take our daughter on her first bike ride. However after spending some time trying to figure out the instructions we began to think the seat was not compatible with my husbands bike. After calling the 800 customer service number our fears were confirmed. I was quickly told that if our bike had a quick release seat and/or a rear suspension the seat would not be able to be mounted. My husband's bike has both. My complaint is....it would have been nice to know this BEFORE I purchased the seat. I did not see this information disclosed anywhere, maybe I missed it. It's probably a wonderful bike seat, but we wouldn't know since we are not able to use it.

We had a baby seat that sat on the back of our bike but didn't like it because we couldn't keep an eye on our son and all our baby saw was our back. We did a lot of research and found that the Hamax child seat had some of the best reviews and thought we would give it a try. This seat is Awesome!!! We absolutely love it. My husband rides his bike often and likes how easy it is to take the seat off and I like having my child in front of me where I can see him. I can also say that my son likes it better too with the new view. The only negative thing I have to say is that it only fits one of our two bikes. Due to the way the frame is welded on one of our mountain bikes the mounting bracket won't fit. Make sure you look at how the mounting bracket fits in the images to verify that it will fit your bike. For us it was no big deal because we only need it to fit one bike. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone.

This is a great buy that got my son enthralled with biking. It is easy to install and easy to remove. A nice advantage of a front mounted seat is you are able to interact with your child as you ride. I'm 6'5" and this seat leaves me plenty of leg room. I installed it on a Specialized Rockhopper.

I used to ride nearly every day, but once I had kids, the free time really started to wane. My older son is almost 3, and my younger is 1. My wife bought me a trailer to take the kids for rides, but due to my younger sons allergies, the dust in his face didn't make for a fun time for him or big brother.
So I tried out this front mounted carrier thinking getting the litte one up front out of the dust would help. The concept was great. But this seat just isn't what it touts. Yes is mounts in the front, ON SOME BIKES. But because there isn't a lap bar or anything to keep the kids hands busy, they tend to roam to the bike controls or onto the handlebars which causes a safety hazard. Lastly, I tend to be flexible on things, but one thing that doesn't make me happy is that with the childs arms able to dangle out the side (very little side support or closure), my son decided he wanted to touch daddy's knees as I rode, and he sprained his wrist because he reached down just as my knee was coming up while pedaling. Definately not good.
I like the idea of moving the kid up front, it would be more fun and interactive, but this seat just doesn't cut it. Maybe something with a lap bar or higher sides, because the opportunity of roaming hands and arms is just too great.

We purchased the Bell Classic Bicycle Child Carrier based on its reviews and as an economical choice for our almost 2-year old who will only get about 1 year's use from it.

Now that it is on and we have test driven it, we like how he fits in it, and we feel comfortable with the safety it provides. It is nice, but not exceptional.

But getting the seat on....

Suffice to say that, as best as we can determine, this Child Carrier is made to attach to a road bike and not a hybrid bike, like ours (a Trek 7000). Our frame is thicker than that of a road bike, so attaching the seat to the rear fork was just barely possible with the hardware supplied. It was possible, but squeezing the brackets around the fork so that they were close enough for us to even begin tightening the nut took a lot of muscle! We also had the same problem as another reviewer, in that our bike has a quick-release seat, and does not have the kind of seat post bolt that the seat needs to be attached. We were able to remedy that by removing the quick-release mechanism, going to the local hardware store to purchase a 1/4-inch hex bolt (which fit in our bike's seat bracket), and using that instead of the provided 8 mm Hex Bold.

At one point in our construction of the Child Carrier, we got particularly frustrated, and tried to find some customer support. There was a 1-800 number, which was closed on the weekend, and absolutely zero on-line support. I have gotten used to having some sort of on-line resources available to me, even if it is only a copy of the owner's manual, so the absolute lack of *anything* was very frustrating. (There is plenty of information for Bell bicycle helmets, but nothing for the child carrier.)

So bottom line, if you have a hybrid bicycle (or, heaven forbid, a mountain bike), be aware that it might not assemble as easily as it should, and you may need to make an extra run to the hardware store!

This seat was easy enough for my wife to install properly the first time by herself. My son's feet fit fine in the stirrups and he feels safe when we ride. The seat is very sturdy and I'm still trying figure out what one of the other reviewers was referring to when they said that this seat wasn't safe (I think they probably installed it incorrectly). You really can't go wrong with this seat and the price is likely the best you'll find. The only thing that might bother someone is that the safety bar of the seat might touch your bottom; but it really doesn't inhibit me from being comfortable or pedaling.

I am very please with this seat for the price I paid. I installed the seat on my husband's old bike, took about half an hour. It seems to hold my 2 1/2 year old, he's 31 lbs and 37 inches. I think the foot hold is a little shallow, my son's feet keep slipping out. One side of the seat belt strap was very hard to put through. Otherwise, its good for occasional use and get the little one used to riding.

I bought this child seat after a using a similar seat on a vacation in Belgium and my son has really loved it. Riding in this seat is one of his favorite activities and he constantly points toward the bike whenever we pass it in the garage. This is easily some of the best money that we've ever spent on a child product as it allows me to exercise while giving my son enjoyment at the same time. I initially thought a trailer would be best but then saw how much he enjoyed the behind the saddle seat in Belgium and changed my mind. We now have a rack on two bikes and can easily transfer the seat to either bike. I can't speak for the shock system since I've never actually ridden in the seat. My only small complaint is that the padding on the seat does not stay in place very well but this mainly due to the fact that it must come off in order to adjust straps as your child grows. My son started riding in this at 9 months and I'm hoping that he can continue using it until he's at least 3. If you enjoy biking or are looking to exercise with your child, I would highly recommend this seat!

WARNING - Topeak has recently changed this product so that the rack can also accommodate their MTX line of trunk bags in addition to the child seat. However the new models are not at all compatible with the old models which are still for sale. Check the Topeak website to compare model numbers and make sure that you get the new model if you do not already own the old one as the trunk bag feature adds even more value.

I bought this exact Topeak child seat at a local Bicycle Shop. The instructions left MUCH to be desired, in my opinion, as far as step-by-step instructions go. It did not require many tools but, buyer beware: you HAVE to have a bike that has the extra built in mounting holes under the seat adjuster! I did not know this when I purchased this seat, and my bike didn't have that extra mounting area under the seat and it made it MUCH harder to attatch in that area. However, with the help of my great neighbor, it is now installed on my bike and I really like it! My 30+lb. 2yr old daughter LOVES it, and seems very comfortable in it! The padding is great and along with the springs is one of the main reasons I bought this one. Others don't have as good/much padding for the child, and I found her saying "owe" while using other child seats when going over a curb. Aside from the instructions I give this seat a thumbs up!!!!

I love this baby seat. My little one is 7 months old and just started riding on the back of my mountain bike with me he is a bit small for the seat and can not yet get his feet into the adjustable foot rests. I had my local bike shop install it for me to be sure it was installed properly they did it for no charge. It is really easy to take off and put on the bike. The shocks on it really make for a smooth ride even on bumpy roads/trails. I am very glad I chose this seat as opposed to the trailers...

Upon opening the box, I immediately realized there was no way any child bigger then say.... 25 lbs would fit in this thing. THEN, I went on to try and mount it onto my bycicle, and there was just no way no how. I have four very different bikes at my house, beach cruiser, womens mtn., mens mtn., and a tandum cruiser (nice bikes too, no junk) and this seat would not mount to any of them. I am going to return it to the store I bought it from and look for a better product :0).

I'm excited to get my son out there with me...I normally ride a lot of single track but with him I'll be sticking to nice easy bike paths...woohoo! Can't wait to get out there with him on Sunday...

I've had an ibert seat for several months now. Pretty cool seat. My only downside is that I had to get a new stem with a high rise to clear my daughters legs/feet. Which subsequently caused me to get new brake cables that are longer. Maybe you don't have to is you have a riser bar.

But otherwise it's a lot of fun to go riding with the fam. My daughter loves it. I get to talk to her and enjoy going over "bump, bump" on rolled curbs and such. The front suspension allows for a pretty plush ride.

But yeah, gotta just stick to easy walking trails.

One thing I find useless is the harness. It's a pain to fasten and remove. The bar helps keep her in place. And I figure if we really do need the harness, then we've got bigger problems.......

If you are a mountain biker and a new parent, one of the most common questions that comes up in our forums is, “How can I safely take my young child with me on my bike rides?”
There are actually several options available. You can:

# pull a trailer behind you (good for 2 children, not good for visibility and interaction)
# use a rear mounted seat (creates a very rearward biased center of gravity, can be tippy, not good for visibility and interaction)
# use a mid bike (top tube mounted) seat (hard to pedal with the child carrier in this location)
# use a trail-a-bike/alleycat style add on (good IF your child is old enough to hold on securely by themselves)
# use the iBert safe-T-seat

Loading your child into the seat:

It is helpful to have a bench or tailgate of a truck or trunk of a car, or something to lean your bike against, when loading and unloading your child from the seat. Clearance between the cables from the handlebar and the leg portion of the seat can be tricky, but not a big deal (I try to make sure my child points his toes a bit when getting in or out so they don’t get hung up on the cables.)

Also, I have found that it is necessary for me to load my child, then secure the safety straps over his head, without him wearing his helmet. If he has his helmet on, the clearance with the straps is not enough to go over his head with helmet. Not a big problem, but something to remember.

I just recently purchased the Safe-T-Seat toddler bicycle seat by iBert. Its website promises that it was designed by parents who were unsatisfied with traditional toddler cycling carriers and thus worked out the problems that plague its competitors. But would it live up to all the
hype? Thankfully, I can emphatically say "yes." The iBert Safe-T-Seat toddler cycling carrier has impressed me and here is why.

First off, my wife and I have fallen out of any sort of exercise routine since the birth of our son. We always worked out together to keep each other motivated and now that we have a baby, someone is always watching him. So for a year now, we've been looking for some type of exercise we could do together with the baby. Now that he has turned one year old, we decided to give cycling a try. We looked at our options for toddler cycling carriers: pull-behind trailers, back-of-the-bike mounted carriers, and front-mounted carriers. In short, we decided to go with a front-mount because I did not feel comfortable pulling such a long trailer behind me as busy as our town's streets are and the back-of-the-bike mounted carriers throw off the balance of the bike considerably. Not to mention, the poor baby would just be looking at the back of my head the entire ride. Our baby absolutely loves going cycling now and the iBert Safe-T-Seat has given my wife and I a wonderful option for exercise that included the whole family.

It fits more bikes,include mountain bikes, than any other front mounted seat.
A minimum of 2 cm (3/4 inch) is needed on the handle bar stem to accommodate the stinger assembly.

IMPORTANT: This bicycle carrier must be installed in strict accordance with the instructions provided. The instructions should be read carefully and each step followed carefully and completely.
1. Looking at the bottom of the seat, remove the assembled stinger and bracket from the seat plate by removing the ring pin and clip. Then remove 1 cap screw from the bracket.

2. Place the partially assembled pieces around the handlebar stem and insert the other screw. Again, make sure the arrow and the hollow part of the stinger are facing up. (It may be necessary to raise the handle bar stem to accommodate the stinger assembly.)

Tips: ******If your space not much more 3/4″, you have to move a spacer from on top of my stem, to below it. A minimum of 3/4″ IS REQUIRE .

3. Tighten both screws the same length with the hex key so there is even pressure on the bracket. Before tightening the screws completely, make sure the stinger is aligned with the tire & frame.
Do Not over tighten.

4. Slide seat onto stinger as far forward as possible. Secure the stinger to the seat plate by sliding the ring pin through the holes. Fasten the ring pin with the clip. 5. Holding onto the bike, put child in the seat and pull straps over the child’s head. Adjust length so straps are snug on child’s shoulders. Slide the stabilizer on the straps up to the child’s chest (approx. 3 inches below the chin). Clip the shoulder straps into the crotch strap.

The my daughter loves ibert safe-t-seat child carrier is more than just a child carrier, it’s 6 years work of a parents who were disappointed with the family bicycling options available in the market.

1. The bicycle trailers were great for parents but terrible for the kids. They couldn’t see anything but dirt and rocks and when we closed the front flap to keep the muck out of their faces, they got too hot. Plus, it was BORING for them. Trailers are also wider than the bike, so they take up more of the roadway. If you're riding on the shoulder, the trailer can stick out into the road if you're not careful. That's not good for them.

2. The rear-mounted seats not good enough because your kids just got to see our backsides and it was tough to talk to them. The balance of the bike was off and the safety issues made us nervous.

3. Other front mounted seats were complicated to hook onto the bike. And once you got them attached, it was another long process if you ever wanted to remove them. Sometime you have to ride bow-legged and it was uncomfortable to ride for very long.

But iBert Safe t front mounted is different, it better and easier for other families. The patented stinger assembly easy to attach and remove from the bike. The seat sits higher and is smooth on the bottom. So even if your knees hit the bottom of the seat, you just glide along the smooth edges on the bottom. i want to ride ibert safe-t-seat child carrier

I love this seat about as much as my daughter.
I used to drag her in a trailer, but it was no fun for her because
A) she was alone behind me
B) many trailers are uncomfortable for her.

The iBert(iBert Safe-T-Seat front mounted child bicycle seat) solves both of those. My daughter loves ride fast, slow, uphill and on light trails (smooth single track is just fine). I haven’t ventured out on for real trails though. I barely noticed a difference in management of the bike for neighborhood riding and you quickly get used to it.
All in all, well worth the money and I highly recommend it. I really freaks some people out and I have gotten stopped by people who want one.
And I have gotten disapproving looks from people who think I am endangering my child, but nothing could be further from the truth. My opinion, if S**T goes down, I want her up by me where I can wrap my arms around her, not trailing 5 feet behind me or on the back of the bike where I can’t see her. I like know she is right between my arms.

Installation: easy
Time: 15 minutes
Take off handlebar, install iBert stinger, and once that's secure, you slide the seat on and pin it in place. There is more than one hole on the seat plate so that you can adjust the seat position forward or backward (not that the adjustment makes a whole lot of difference). Installation is faster with two persons although one person could definitely swing it from the on-bike position. Very easy to adjust stinger with the hex tool.

Not very different from regular biking.
First test run with seat only: Pedaling does not make knees hit the seat. If it does, you need to raise your bike seat to elongate your pedaling stroke as well as your handlebar.

iBert does not interfere with steering at all. Plenty of room for arms. Rode around cul-de-sac end to test 360 left/right turning.

Changing gears: easy, no change from regular cycling; both gearshifts are positioned by my thumbs, low side -- no chance baby can mess with them in-flight. Your bike may be different.

**Safety belt: needs improvement
Works differently from what I thought at first, but you learn to adjust it fairly quickly. There is only one adjustment "buckle" on the right bottom side, so you have to push the slack down the right front, up the left side, then left to right under the seat back. Annoying! I would have preferred to have two adjustments, one on each side. But once you make the adjustment for your toddler, you won't have to do it often again.

Vision: no problems from the seat or having a helmeted toddler in front of me. There is plenty of clearance to see potholes, dog poops, mud piles, branches in front of the bike. You can raise your seat and handlebar anyway.

Fun factor: son did not want to get out of the seat after the test ride. On the day after we took a long ride on a bike trail, and it was so much fun!
